How to make an essentially small space seem bigger without moving any walls? Move the ceiling. This 5' x 9' bath grew visually once the restriction of an eight foot ceiling was relieved. The challenge once the ceiling was vaulted was to not make the cabinetry seem lost in the larger, asymmetrical space. The light soffit accomplishes several tasks: it lowers the effective ceiling height over the vanity, provides a place for direct lighting, and creates a shelf space for decoration without using any of the limited counter space.

The tall cabinets house receptacles for razor chargers, blow driers, etc. The frameless shower design allows the tile to flow around the room without taking a large visual bite out of one corner, making the room seem larger. The soap niche makes use of otherwise wasted wall space for shampoo and soap storage.
